Why Join a Flock?
In the Bible, we see that community is vital to our faith. In Acts 2:46-47, the early church met in homes, broke bread together, and praised God with glad hearts. These early believers understood that their journey wasn’t meant to be done alone, and neither is yours!
Joining a Flock is about:
- Living out your faith with others.
- Growing in maturity as a disciple of Jesus.
- Building genuine relationships.
- Finding support in the highs and lows of life.
We believe that transformation happens best in smaller settings where we can be real with one another, share life, and dive deep into God’s Word.
What Happens in a Flock?
A Flock is more than just a Bible study or a social hangout. It’s a place where:
- Worship takes place in living rooms and backyards.
- Prayer is shared openly, as we support one another in our needs.
- The Word of God is explored, challenged, and applied to our everyday lives.
- Discipleship happens naturally as we sharpen one another (Proverbs 27:17).
Each Flock is unique—some might gather around shared interests like fitness or coffee, while others focus on families or young adults. Whatever the vibe, one thing remains: Jesus is at the centre.
How Does It Work?
Our Flocks meet weekly or fortnightly in homes, parks, or cafes around the community. They’re made up of people of all ages and walks of life, brought together by a shared desire to know Jesus better and to serve each other and the world.
Here’s what you can expect:
- A casual, laid-back environment. We’re all mates here—there’s no pressure to pretend you’ve got it all together.
- Open conversations. Everyone gets a chance to speak, share, and ask questions. There are no silly questions, just opportunities to learn and grow.
- Support and accountability. We’re in this together. Flocks are like a second family, always there to lend a hand or a listening ear.
- Regular get-togethers—from BBQs and beach days to coffee catch-ups, our Flocks are about doing life together, not just meeting for a program.
Who Leads a Flock?
Flocks are led by everyday people who have a heart for God and for people. You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to lead—you just need a passion for making disciples and building community. All of our leaders receive support and training from the church to help them facilitate meaningful conversations and foster spiritual growth.
As leaders, we reflect Jesus, the Good Shepherd (John 10:11), who leads with care, love, and a servant’s heart. Our leaders are committed to following Christ and helping others do the same.
Biblical Foundation of Flocks
Our Flocks Ministry is deeply rooted in biblical principles. Jesus said, “Where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them” (Matthew 18:20). We take that seriously! There’s something powerful about gathering in smaller numbers, opening our homes, and sharing our lives.
Throughout Scripture, we see the value of smaller, intimate gatherings:
- Discipleship: Jesus spent time with His twelve disciples, but He also poured personally into Peter, James, and John (Mark 9:2-3).
- Encouragement: Hebrews 10:24-25 calls us to spur one another on and to meet regularly, especially as we see the day approaching.
- Serving one another: Galatians 6:2 tells us to carry each other’s burdens, which is best done in smaller, trusted groups.
Flocks are an expression of what it means to be the Body of Christ (I Corinthians 12:12-27). Each one of us plays a role in building up the body, and Flocks give you the opportunity to discover your gifts and serve others.
