Generosity is at the heart of the gospel. When we give, we reflect God's generous nature and His blessings in our lives. In the Scriptures, we see how God not only provides for His people but also calls us to be vessels of His provision to others.
The prophet Isaiah declares, "If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness" (Isaiah 58:10, NIV).
Just as Christ fed the hungry and cared for the poor, we too are invited to participate in acts of charity that bring hope, healing, and help to those in need. Our giving is an act of worship, acknowledging that everything we have comes from God and is ultimately His.
The apostle Paul reminds us, "Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously" (2 Corinthians 9:6, NIV).
We are not called to give reluctantly but joyfully, trusting that God uses our offerings to advance His kingdom and care for His people. Our giving reflects our trust in His provision and our desire to partner in His work.
Consider the widow of Zarephath in 1 Kings 17, who gave the last of her food to the prophet Elijah. Though her resources were meagre, her faith in God's provision resulted in miraculous sustenance for her household. Her story teaches us that no gift is too small when given in faith and love.
At Flock of the Good Shepherd, your gifts support a range of ministries—from local outreach and missions to discipleship programs that help grow faith and maturity in Christ. Through your generosity, we are able to serve our community effectively, reach the lost, and care for those in need.
As you give, you join in the mission to serve the generation passionately, and you help others experience the tangible love of Christ.
We offer a number of simple and secure ways to give:
The story of Zacchaeus (see Luke 19) is a beautiful example of the transformation that generosity can bring. When Zacchaeus encountered Jesus, his response was to give back to the poor and restore what he had taken, showing that true repentance is often accompanied by generosity. "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor..." (Luke 19:8, NIV).
Similarly, we give not because we have to, but because we want to—because we have experienced the love of Jesus and want others to experience that same love.
As you prayerfully consider your giving, remember that each contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in advancing the work of God’s kingdom. Let us be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us and give joyfully, for it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
