“The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
II Corinthians 5:17b
Baptism is a public declaration of your decision to follow Jesus and an important step in your walk with Him.
Are you ready to go all in?
Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It symbolises the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-4). When you are baptised, you’re publicly declaring that you have turned from your old way of life and are embracing a new life in Christ.
Baptism is also a symbol of being washed clean from sin, as Peter explains:
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins"
(Acts 2:38).
At Flock of the Good Shepherd Church, we believe that baptism is an essential act of obedience for every believer. It's a celebration of the grace and salvation you’ve received through Jesus.
Baptism is important because Jesus Himself set the example. Before starting His public ministry, Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:13-17). Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples of all nations and baptise them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
BAPTISM IS A STEP OF OBEDIENCE:
Jesus said, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved" (Mark 16:16). This act of faith shows that you are serious about following Him and living out His teachings.
BAPTISM IS A TESTIMONY:
When you are baptised, you are telling the world that you belong to Jesus. Your baptism becomes a public testimony of the transformative work of Christ in your life.
No, salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9).
However, baptism is an important step of obedience after salvation that signifies your commitment to follow Jesus.
Anyone who has made the decision to follow Jesus and accept Him as their Lord and Saviour can be baptised (Acts 8:36-38).
At FGS, we baptise individuals who can understand and express their faith in Jesus.
If you were baptised as an infant or before you made a personal decision to follow Jesus, we encourage you to be baptised again as a public declaration of your faith.
Participants are given a “Baptism Wet Shirt”.
You can bring your personal towel and change of clothes, but most importantly, bring yourself and your faith!
We’ll provide everything else and a team of people to guide you through the day.
When you sign up for baptism at Flock of the Good Shepherd, we want to make the experience meaningful and personal.
Here’s what you can expect:
